The Hollywood Legion Theater is a world-class venue with 35mm, 70mm, and digital cinema projection capabilities.

Originally used as a meeting and dance hall for Post 43 veterans, the objective of our extensive 2018 renovation was to transform the theater space into a state-of-the-art cinema and live presentation venue while maintaining the integrity and character of the original architecture.

The fully modernized 482-seat theater has a Dolby 7.1 sound system and Christie 4K digital projector. Sound is provided by a unique ribbon-based Alcons immersive system that includes five screen channels and is capable of 30,000 watts of room-filling, transparent audio.

The theater interior underwent a complete acoustical makeover. A new stage lighting system is perfect for discussions, presentations, and seminars and is complemented by a dedicated PA system distinctly separate from the cinema sound system.

The Legion Theater’s projection booth is outfitted with two fully restored Norelco AAII film projectors, capable of projecting reel-to-reel 35mm and 70mm film prints. Variable speed projection motors allow films to be shown at their original frame rates, particularly helpful when showing films from the early silent era.

Our two-projector changeover system permits us to properly project archival film prints on their original film reels, without resorting to “platter” prints, a process that can damage now exceedingly rare film prints. Every film that is shown at our theater is carefully inspected by our projection team to ensure the highest quality of presentation. Our experienced theater and projection team spare no effort in order to bring exceptional presentation standards to each and every show.
